Fall Scented Play-Dough

Give me alllll the fall things! Today I decided to try out a new play-dough recipe and put a fall twist on it! I think this is my new favorite recipe! It was easy, included ingredients most people already have and I love the consistency!
First, gather all of your ingredients. The spices are completely optional! I will give you the base of the recipe...then you can add whatever you like!
Materials:
2 cups of baking soda
1 cup of corn starch
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
1.5 cups of water
food coloring (optional)
spices (optional)
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients together except optional ingredients. Stir until they mix together well (will be very runny.)
Pour into a sauce pan and cook on medium heat until mixture is thick and hard to stir.
Move to a cutting board and allow to cool. Knead together after cooled.
After this, I divided mine into four sections because I wanted four fall scents!
I really could have played with just the white version all night. I simply love the consistency of this recipe!
Next, I added food coloring and spices, then kneaded them until they were well mixed. No exact science here...I just poured until I found the color and scent I wanted!
Spices:
Apple Pie
Nutmeg
Clove
Pumpkin Pie
I cannot wait to break these out tomorrow for my little pumpkins! They are going to be so excited!
Happy Fall Y'all!

The Kiser House

Well, in the midst of trying to simplify my life...I decided to simplify my social media. I decided to ditch a few blogs (yes, a few...) and just do a family blog and a teacher blog. You are reading the family blog. I also decided to ditch my business Instagram which had 14K followers. Trust me, I am relieved. I will be posting pictures and stories of our family on @thekiserhouse though. So, that will be fun!

If you are a family member, friend, or just new to getting to know us...this blog will be all fun, not a business. I mean sure...I might share the occasional recipe I tried with my kids or a new Amazon product I love--but in the last 5 years, I have covered myself in business and honestly...I am pretty dang tired of it.

Will I still run my business? Of course. Will it be thrown into your Facebook, Instagram or life? No. Like I said...I am just ready for a change.

So. We are the Kisers. Rex (7), Olivia (3), and well...you don't need ages on us adults. I am Hillary and my husband is Randy.

Moving on. So I am going to fast forward (since it is mainly family and friends) and discuss some other things.

1. My Wisdom Tooth Disaster

Good news...ish. I went to the oral surgeon today and he believes that the pain I am experiencing is from the bone and soft tissue adjusting, remolding, regrowing, etc. Basically, my right lower wisdom tooth was impacted sideways and when he removed it, it left a large spot for healing. The swelling and pain now is from all of the shifting and healing that is taking place. We saw evidence of this on the x-rays from this week vs. last week. Infection is gone and nerves are still being touched and hit. He said I have every right to be in pain (yay for not being crazy) and he gave me some meds to help with the pain. Thankfully, they are not the loopy pain meds anymore. I told him I needed to be done with those.

Anyway--many have asked me who my doctor was (with terror in their eyes.) Let me say this...he has been NOTHING but kind, patient, supportive, and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone. So, please do not think ill of my doctor. Trust me, he is great!

I do not think the pain will go away any time soon, but now that we *think* we know the reason, I am feeling more at ease. I say *think* because he did reserve the right to have me back in if it does not get better in about 2 weeks to a month. Also, the meds should help me eat. So, whohoo!

2. Cleaning

Okay, I am not really going to talk about cleaning. I mean, a little but mainly I want to tell you about a new countertop spray I found that I LOVE! Have you ever heard me talk about cleaning supplies? No. I usually do not care...but even Randy loved this one!

The smell is incredible. Anyway, it is from Amazon. You can click the image if you want some (not affiliated, just sharing!)

3. Clothes

Now, I know what you are thinking...oh goodness, she is sharing fashion tips. No. I mean, I can get you to someone who can help but it sure isn't me. However, I did find some great shirts for lounging around. Why is this a big deal? I can never find shirts that are long enough but not big all over. First world problems, right? I needed shirts that are good for working out, playing with Livi and just working in general (on my computer.) Anyway, Wal-Mart has Men's Hanes Nano-T Shirts (I get a Medium) that fit PERFECT. The length is great, overall they are just great. I bought every color they had. And yes, I said MEN'S.

4. Family

As I stated above, I am really wanting to make some changes. I want to spend more time with my family and less time running my business from my phone. It is going to take some effort and planning on my part, but I know it can be done.

Rex is doing amazing in 2nd grade. He gets on blue or purple every day (which is not just good behavior but GREAT) and he is really doing wonderful on his grades, reading, etc. He started back to scouts last night and I am just one proud momma! Plus, look at him. Just like his daddy!

Olivia is doing a wonderful job with her preschool things and she is loving her time with mommy! I know I don't have many more years of her being home with me--so I am trying to soak it in. She loves dance class and is really pretty good at it! And if ever you have met a daddy's girl...she is it.

Randy is amazing as usual! He works so hard and his band is doing great. I know this time of the year is hard for him but he is the best kind of person about it. He has made a huge effort to remain positive and keep a positive climate in his band. The change is really amazing to watch.

I hope you enjoyed hearing from our little slice of life over here. Hopefully, my mouth will continue to heal (and maybe a little faster than it currently is, lol.) Hopefully, football season will continue to go smoothly. And hopefully, you have a wonderful rest of the week!
